Blog 5: Pobby and Dingan
What does Ashmol agree to do for Kellyanne? What do you think
about this agreement? What does Mr. Dan Dunkley think about it? In the
last line of chapter 12, Mr. Dan says that the preacher will think he's
"doolally." What do you think "doolally" means?
After Ashmol finds the opal, he makes Kellyanne promise that if he organizes a funeral for Pobby and Dingan, Kellyanne will get better and stop worrying her parents.I think that it is a clever agreement for the family since everyone in the family is worried about Kellyanne. Mr. Dan Dunkley thinks that it is a stupid idea until he sees the opal. Doolally might mean to fool around.

DeleteAshmol agree not to tell anybody about Pobby and Dingan and opal beside the funeral director. This makes Kellayanne stop worrying according to Kallyanne's line. At first Mr.Dan Dunkley do not believe this and thougth Ashmol is making fun or doing a school project. However, after see the Opal and listen to what Ashmol said about his sister he agree to make a real funeral and a graveyard for Pobby and Dingan. Doolally might mean somebody is idiot or stupid. Because according to what Mr.Dan first have thinked, it looks like he thinks it is stupid.

DeleteAt the end of chapter 10, Ashmol agreed to buy a funeral for Pobby and Dingan, and do not go trying to get money for the opal. Also he agreed that he would not tell his father about the opal and how he found it. I think this agreement is so unrealizable. There's no evidence that this opal was Dingan's belly button. If he sell the opal and get money for his family, they can have a entirely better life. However, he chose to save his sister' life, it' a moving story. Mr. Dan felt weird about it, also he thank Ashmol stole this opal from Old Sid. But at the end of chapter 12, he promised Ashmol to made the funeral for Pobby and Dingan. In my opinion, cool ally means someone who got crazy, or out of his mind. Because he was going to make funeral for imaginary people, and he was afraid of the preacher think he's a lunatic.

DeleteAshmol promised to hold a funeral for Pobby and Dingan which doesn't allowed to use the money by selling the opal he found. I think this agreement is full of love and faith from a brother, if I am Ashmol, I would definitely not listening to Kellyanne and sell the opal for a better life. But still, Kellyanne is more important than everything to Ashmol, and I like this setting. Mr. Dan doesn't believe in the speaking of bury the imaginary people, and doesn't like it at first, but when he saw the opal and went crazy, everything just changed.

When Ashmol found the opal he agreed with Kellyanne to buy funeral for Pobby and Dingan. He also agreed that he wouldn't tell Rex how he found the opal. I don't think this agreement is reasonable because if Ashmol sold this opal then the Wiliamson's family could have been really rich. Mr. Dun Dunkley think this agreement is stupid. I think doolally means something that is stupid, or crazy.
ReplyDeleteAshmol agreed that he will arrange a funeral for Pobby and Dingan and do not tell anyone, I think this agreement is good for Kellyanne and Ashmol is very intimate of doing this. However, Mr. Dan Dunkley thought he is crazy and stupid of buying a space in the cemetery for Pobby and Dingan, and "doolally" probably means crazy ideas or crazy actions.

DeleteAshmol agree Kellyanne to make a funeral for Pobby and Dingan when he get the opal. I think it's a good idea because at least Ashmol makes Kellyanne happy for a little while. Mr. Dan Dunkley didn't think it is a good idea because he thought Ashmol was joking till he saw the opal...

In chapter 10, Ashmao agrees to use the opal to pay for Pobby and Dingan's funeral, and don't let their parents know about it. The first time I read this chapter I thought Ashmol is crazy, because opal is very important for his dad, and he had not found any one for a long time. However, as Ashmaol said, this might be the only chance to make Kellyanne feel better, and he does not want to lose Kellyanne as she lost her friends. Therefore, this agreement is appropriate for the situation at that time. In the chapter12, Mr. Dan Dunkley thinks it is just a childish school project first, but after Ashmol shows him the opal, he changes him mind and promise to give him a funeral. "doolally" means crazy, it is because Mr. Dan Dunkley thinks it's hard for others to believe a funeral for two imaginary people, and regard him as a doolally man.
ReplyDeleteAfter Ashmal finds a opal, he agrees Kellyanne to hold a funeral for Pobby and Dingan. Also, Ashmal hopes that Kellyanne will not get sick and stop worrying. In addition, I think this agreement is create for his family because whole family is worring about Kellyanne. Moreover, at the end of chapter 12, Mr. Dan says that the preacher will think he's "doolally." and I think this "doolally" means fool because he thinks Ashmal is doing stupid thing for Kellyanne.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why ashmol held the funeral for pobby and dingan was probably because at the last few chapters pobby and dingan died in the mine looking for opal which means that the purpose of holding the funeral for both of them was to show respect and sympathy towards both of them
ReplyDeleteAshmol agrees to have funeral of Pobby and Dingan with an opal which is Dingan’s bellybutton. Ashmol is doing it because he believes that if Pobby and Dingan have funeral, Kellyane would believe their death and going to be healthy.
ReplyDeleteAt first, when Ashmol wanted to have funeral of imaginary friends, he would think that he is crazy, but after he shows the opal for a payment, he changed his mind because of the money.
In the last line of chapter 12, Mr. Dan said “He’s going to think that I am doolally or something”. Doolally means insane or crazy, and he said that because they need a preacher to do funeral, but he cannot make understanding preacher that they are doing funeral of imaginary friends, he would say about opal things or his plan to preacher.
Ashmol promises Kellyanne that he will buy a funeral for Dinghan and Pobby with the opal from Dingham’s bellybutton.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the right decision because Ashmol is trying to do what’s right for his sister. He thinks that if he has a good funeral – Kellyanne will feel better.
Dan Dunkley is the funeral director and he thinks Ashmol is a little bit crazy because he is asking to bury two imaginary friends.
Doolally means that the preacher will think that Dan is crazy wanting a funeral for two imaginary people.
Ashmol sold the opal for a funeral for pobby and dingan. Which I think it's worthless by doing this, selling this could help his family. When he talked with Mr.Dan, the big fat person didn't believed him. But when Ashmol take out the opal, he decided to help him for the funeral. Doolally probably means going crazy, because I think a grown up person won't arrange a funeral for someone who doesn't exist.
